We have finally arrived at the end of our semester. For myself this is a time of mixed emotions. I am closing a chapter in my life by leaving the island. Our last final is Thursday so all the students are hard at work studying while we the MD4’s have the added stress of packing to head home for MD5. I am so happy to start clinical rotations next semester, but at the same time I am extremely sad to say goodbye to the place I have made my home for the last 16 months. This experience on San Pedro island has easily been one of the best of my life. I have met so many intelligent and inspirational individuals that I am proud to now call my friends. Although we are all headed to separate parts of the world to continue with our studies, we are eternally bound to each other from the experiences we have shared together in medical school. They have all become my extended family and I wouldn’t trade the time I’ve spent down here for anything in the world.

Thank you Dr. Gates for making microbiology class such a wonderful and insightful bridge into the next phase of our academic career. No words can describe our appreciation. You are beloved by all the students and we all hope to see you again in the future.

Any prospective students who are reading this and are interested in asking me any questions, I would be happy to speak with you about how wonderful and beneficial my experience at WUHS has been. I snapped one last picture of us for this final blog post.
