My name is Asim Khan and after spending 20 years as a businessman, author and educator, I have changed gears to focus on improving the lives of others by becoming a physician to serve the public’s healthcare needs. I will also utilize my business skills to deliver affordable healthcare to the underserved.
I’m from Newport Beach, California and deciding to attend WUHS was an opportunity of a lifetime as I’m an unconventional medical student with a majority of my professional and academic background consisting of law and business.
Entering medicine has been a long time goal and after spending significant time at Long Beach Memorial Hospital shadowing an Oncologist, I found myself convinced that healing others is my true calling.
As such, my new journey towards my medical doctorate as a Summer 2016 term MD1 student at the Washington University of Health and Sciences is going to be a new fulfilling experience that will allow me to affect people’s lives and health directly for which I am grateful.
As a teaching assistant for Biochemistry, I look forward to providing my colleagues and future peers, insights and relevant knowledge to increase their capacity as future physicians to ensure our collective success in understanding the human body at a molecular level.
