Jessica Flores Caribbean Med School Student WUHSJesica Flores

MD2 Representative

My name is Jesica Flores, I’m 21 years old, been a student at WUHS for a year now, and finally I have started my MD program, I’m over excited about this new journey. It will be more challenging, but nobody said it was going to be easy, it takes a lot of determination and dedication. Ever since I was kid I was asked what I wanted to be, and to be honest I wasn’t really quiet sure, but I always said “doctor”. So as time went by every time I was asked that same question, I always answered with the same respond. Now I am sure, I want to be a doctor, but I want to specialize in the field of radiology. There is just something about it, that captured my attention, images and being able to understand and help someone out before anyone else can, that will be a trill and the most rewarding thing I can ever have. My chapter is just starting and my first pages may be all crumbled up at first, but as each day passes by every new page keeps looking better.

When I attended university of Belize but I didn’t take any science class. I instead took information technology. That was a new challenge for me. It felt a lot harder for me. As I was done, I had the great privilege to attend Washington University of Health and Science. I’m hear today, facing new challenges, crying, not sleeping well, but I know that it will be worth it, and the only way ill get through this, is with a positive attitude, hard work and determination will get me where I want too. I’m excited to be the MD2 Representative for SGA this semester.

My love affair with medicine dates back as far as I can remember. So for me, attending a school that could boast the academic resources I need; and also, be located in the Caribbean was a no brainer.

I did my undergrad at Arizona State University and graduated with a BS in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Genetics, Cell and Developmental Biology. I have wanted to be a physician since as long as I can remember.
